Havana, Cuba.- In the presence of Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez, President of the Councils of State and Ministers of Cuba, the representatives of the National Assembly of People’s Power (ANPP) received on Wednesday a training on legislative issues, as a prelude to the 4th Extraordinary Session corresponding to the 9th Legislature, scheduled for today.

Oscar Silvera Martinez, Cuban Minister of Justice, informed the MPs gathered at the Convention Center about the laws to be presented in the near future and referred to some of them such as health, education, tourism and housing sectors.

The Cuban legislators will elect this Thursday in Extraordinary Session the President, Vice President and Secretary of the ANPP, as well as the President and Vice President of the Republic, and the members of the Council of State.

According to the text of Article 121 of the Constitution, the President, Vice President and Secretary of the National Assembly are also members of the Council of State, a body that cannot be integrated by the members of the Council of Ministers or the highest authorities of the judicial, electoral and state control bodies.

The Council of State is the representative body of the ANPP between sessions, carries out its agreements and fulfills the other functions assigned to it by the Constitution and the law.
