Pretoria, South Africa.- The Cuban Vice Minister of Public Health, Marcia Cobas, arrived on Wednesday in South Africa as part of a tour of African countries with the intention of reviewing the existing cooperation and promoting new projects in that sector.

Accompanied by representatives of Medical Services, the Ministry of Foreign Trade, the International Financial Bank and the Farmacuba company, the Vice Minister began her work with interviews in the chancellery and the Medical Services of the South African Armed Forces.

Along with the official and her companions are also the Ambassador of Cuba in South Africa, Rodolfo Benitez, and Dr. Reinaldo Denis, coordinator of the Medical Brigade of that Caribbean country in this Southern African nation, and other diplomatic officials.

According to the program, the delegation will travel to Limpopo tomorrow, where exchanges are foreseen with the head of the government of that province, Stanley Mathabata, and with Dr. Phopi Ramathuba, member of the local Executive Committee in charge of Health.

In Polwokane, the provincial capital, Cuban visitors will tour the main hospital in the city and meet with Cuban specialists who provide services in that South African region.

Dr. Cobas will be received on Friday by the Deputy Minister of Health of South Africa, Joe Phaahla, and also plans other activities that include exchanges with managers of the Union of Health Workers (NEHAWU, for its acronym in English).

The Cuban delegation began its African journey in Ghana, which besides South Africa will include the Republic of the Congo, Tchad and Algeria.
