Havana, Cuba.- The 4th International Congress of Mining and Metallurgy, Minemetal 2018, opened on Tuesday its scientific and exhibition activities, in a biennial event in which more than 400 national and foreign experts will participate.
The academicians will meet until September 27 to promote execution and visualize the results achieved in the scientific area.
The event takes place at Plaza America Conference and Commercial Center, located in the Varadero beach resort, in Matanzas province, and it also includes an Expo-Fair where innovations in mining, geology, salt production, agriculture, light industry and chemistry, as well as teaching and scientific research associated with these sectors will be exhibited.
Tuesday’s activities began with the issue Mining in Cuba, trend and development, one of the three scheduled keynote speeches and will continue with Scientific results, implementation of technologies and the 2018-2025 projection of the Research Center for the Metallurgical Industry, and Technological progress in the geological exploration and development in Cuba’.
Issues related to Health and safety at workplace, Information Technology and Telecommunications in Mining and Geology, as well as the multidisciplinary scope of the activity, were discussed at Minemetal 2018.
The Evaluation of potential, prospection and exploration of mineral resources; Geophysics and topography for mining and salt; Mining Experiences in the exploration, exploitation and processing of metallic and non-metallic minerals, among other basic aspects, will be debated in the scientific event.
The event is being attended by representatives from Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Chile, China, Colombia, Congo, Cuba, Ecuador, France, Italy, Peru, Poland, Portugal, Russia and Switzerland, among others.
