CIEGO DE AVILA, Cuba. – The repair of Estero Socorro Dam, a hydro technical work inserted in the great wetland of the north of Ciego de Avila province, is one of the actions carried out in the territory in the short term to take care of ecosystem, which already feels the damage of climatic change.

The wall is 23 kilometers long and its main function is to protect the surroundings in an area extending from La Tinaja Beach, to the east of Turiguano Island to the surroundings of Cunagua Hill.

The technical director of the Hydraulic Exploitation Company in Ciego de Avila, Pedro Rodriguez, said the value of the work up to 2018 is estimated at more than two millions pesos.

Forces of its counterpart in Camagüey support these tasks, which include rock shedding as filling material and weeding.
