HAVANA, Cuba. – Recalling with deep sorrow the horrendous crime of Barbados, on October 6, 1976 Cuba is once again mourning. The ringleaders of the event happened 41 years ago were Cuban-born terrorists Luis Posada Carriles and Orlando Bosch Avila, wage-earners of the United States Empire.
The investigative commission and Cuban expert Julio Lara Alonso proved that the aircraft fell to the sea as a result of two explosions, the second one in the rear bathroom of the passenger cabin, which caused the falling of the ship.
As a result of that terrorist act, fifty seven Cubans lost their lives, as well as eleven Guyanese and five Koreans.
Among the passengers who perished in the abominable attack were members of the Cuban youth fencing team, who successfully competed in the Central American and Caribbean Championship.
Day of the Victims of Terrorism
Evoking the crime of Barbados it was established October 6 as the Day of the Victims of Terrorism, a day to demand that impunity and violent actions against Cuba cease.
Every year in Cuba, the traditional pilgrimage is carried out in the Christopher Columbus Cemetery, with the attendance of relatives of the victims. In addition, sportsmen and coaches repudiate the vile murder in Cerro Pelado Higher Training School for High-Performing Athletes in Havana.
