CARACAS, Venezuela. – Venezuela rejected a statement from the U.S. Department of State attacking the legitimacy of the presidential election of April 22 and the democratic institutions of that nation.

The Chancellery denounced in Caracas that the White House, in pretending to tarnish the Venezuelan people´s will of deciding their destiny, arrogates an attribution that no people has given to it to prejudge the results of an electoral process that has not happened.

Washington criticized the decision of the National Electoral Council of Venezuela to carry out the presidential elections, in compliance with the decree of the National Constituent Assembly to advance the event.

The North American State Department lies in stating that the announcement was unilateral and the electoral and democratic process will not have any guarantee of being free and internationally validated.
