Uruguay’s Chancellor criticized U.S. blockade of Cuba.

UNITED NATIONS, New York.- Uruguayan Foreign Minister Rodolfo Nin Novoa condemned the U.S. blockade of Cuba during his speech at the 74th session of the UN General Assembly.

Similarly, we raised our voices again in this Assembly, as for 27 years, to strongly condemn the savage and illegal trade and financial blockade applied against Cuba for more than 50 years, Nin Novoa highlighted.

The Chancellor of Uruguay explained that these are unlawful sanctions, contrary to international law, which have impoverished the Cuban people, and whose serious consequences mortgage the future of women and men of that Brother Latin American country.

Uruguay has a long tradition of defending multilateralism, democracy, self-determination and the protection and promotion of human rights, the Nin Novoa remarked.
