CARACAS, Venezuela. – Venezuela promotes reparation to Afro-descendant peoples as a historical debt of the north with the south after years of exploitation and looting, Reinaldo Bolívar, director-founder of the African, American and Caribbean Knowledge Center said.

The scholar commented that the institution developed its fifth International Congress where historical and documentary data were presented that enrich the studies on the genocide imposed in Africa and its diaspora in America.

At the close of the event a statement was issued with which Venezuela and the African and Caribbean countries legally claim reparations for the plundering of natural resources and cultural property.

Venezuela in cooperation with other affected States puts into practice the United Nations proposal to declare the period 2015-2024 as the International Decade for Afro-descendants.
