MOSCOW, Russia.- Russia rejected the new US pretexts for the possible implementation of new unilateral sanctions against it, now for the alleged violation of U.S. laws on chemical weapons control.
Spokeswoman for the Russian Chancellery Maria Zajarova, said, Washington insisted previously on the need to punish Moscow for its alleged relationship with the case of poisoning of former agent Sergei Skripal, for which they never presented evidence.
The spokesman said that Russia since the middle of last year concluded a long process of destruction of its chemical arsenal, before the planned date.
Zajarova remarked, however, that the United States and other Western powers postponed compliance with that agreement, and considered that American officials are unaware of their country’s lack of commitment to the implementation of the Chemical Weapons Convention.
