Lisbon, Portugal.- The Portugal-Cuba Friendship Association (AAPC) confirmed the holding of a public rally on Wednesday to demand an end to the blockade imposed by the United States on the Caribbean island for more than five decades.

According to organizers, the event will take place at 21:00 hours, local time, in Sacavém, in Loures municipality, and will be attended by a diplomatic representation from Cuba.

In a recent communiqué, the AAPC assured that Washington’s aggressions and restrictions on Cuba ‘are a violation of human rights and international law and are a crime against the Latin American country and its people’.

The organization also criticized the stepping up of the inhumane policy by the Donald Trump administration and its negative consequences not only for Cubans but for U.S. citizens and institutions.

The APPC will also participate in a solidarity event with the peoples of Latin America organized by the Portuguese Council for Peace and Cooperation on June 7.
