UNITED NATIONS, New York.- The Secretary General of the United Nations Organization, Antonio Guterres, insisted on the need for a political solution in Venezuela and called to avoid any manifestation of violence, its spokesperson said.

According to spokesman Stéphane Dujarric, the head of the United Nations had a telephone conversation last night with Venezuelan Chancellor Jorge Arreaza, who gave him details of recent events.

The President of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro, denounced the attempt of a coup d’état with external support, an action led by self-appointed President-in-charge Juan Guaido, in the vicinity of La Carlota Base in Caracas.

The Venezuelan Ambassador to the UN, Samuel Moncada, denounced the fact before the multilateral agency and rejected the support the coup received from the United States and the governments of Colombia, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Panama, and Paraguay.
