Hardt was responsible for sentencing Lula to 12 years and 11 months in prison for corruption and money laundering.

BRAZILIA, Brazil.- Brazilian judge Gabriela Hardt, a replacement for  former judge and current Justice Minister Sergio Moro in the Java Jato anti-corruption operation, would have assured that if any of her private conversations were disclosed, she would criminally prosecute those responsible.

As Robson Bonin writes in Radar da Veja column, the magistrate commented she would prosecute those who disclose their illegally obtained conversations.

Hardt was responsible for condemning Lula to 12 years and 11 months in prison for corruption and money laundering in February. Meanwhile, Lula’s defense accused Hardt of copying the 2017 Moro sentence for corruption and bleaching in a separate case.

Regarding plagiarism, Hardt admitted that she did write the sentence using Moro’s model, but argued that this is common, and that she does so in all her decisions.
