Barranquilla, Colombia.- At the end of today”s competitive events, the Central American and Caribbean Games, Barranquilla-2018, will only have five dates left, with Mexico consolidating its supremacy in the overall medal table.

Mexicans have on Sunday a total of 86 titles, an advantage that is almost insurmountable for Colombia (46) and Cuba (38), the three current powers of the oldest regional games in the world.

The winning rhythm of the leading country maintained its speed on Saturday, incorporating half a dozen golden medals to its Barranquilla collection, while the Colombian and Cuban representations barely increased one and three, respectively.

In addition to the premiere of athletics, which will distribute four games of medals, Sunday’s session includes the swimmer men’s marathon, 10 kilometers in open waters.

In far-away Cali (more than 1,100 kilometers), road cycling will bid farewell to the Games with its main test, the route for men. And in the capital, Bogota, the horsemen will define the last medals in the specialty of individual jumping.

The Greco-Roman wrestling begins with a gold booty to be divided among five weight categories.

Boxing will define its history in Curramba la Bella, when it develops a full calendar of semifinals.

On the second date of fencing, the fencers will fight for the golden prize.

The sport shooting will only organize a podium, the rifle three positions at 50 meters, for men.

Team sports will have as main attraction the final of field hockey, with Cuba and Mexico as protagonists.

And one of the most striking disciplines of the Games, beach volleyball, will continue its party along the western bank of the Magdalena River, where its second day of competition will take place.
