Cayo Santa María, Cuba.- The 39th edition of the International Tourism Fair (FITCUBA 2019) will be dedicated to Spain, and will opwen on May 7 thru 11 of 2019 in Havana, it was officially informed.

At the closing ceremony of the 38th FITCUBA, at the Hotel Sercotel of Key Santa Maria, the Cuban Minister of Tourism, Manuel Marrero, detailed tjhat the following Fair the guest country will be Spain and the

product will be Conventions and Incentives.

Precisely, Havana turns 500 years old in 2019 (November 16), reason why Marrero gave an accredited certificate to the delegate of the Tourism Ministry (Mintur) in that city, Xonia Beltran.

During the closing ceremony of FITCUBA 2018 in the Las Terrazas Square of this key, the ambassador of Spain in Cuba, Juan Jose Buitrago de Benito, thanked the designation and highlighted the links between both countries.

The Cuban Minister of the sector specified that at the closing gala of FITCUBA 2018, attended 1319 participants of 62 countries, among which he included the 168 specialized journaliosts from all over the world. The countries most represented in this edition that concluded in the early hours of Sunday, were Spain with 118 professionals of the sector, followed by the United States (98), Mexico (95) and the United Kingdom (52).

He also said that during the days of the fair, were signed agreements and letters of intent in hotel management, and new programs for the following high season of Cuban tourism (November-April), above all with Germany and France.

He thanked the successful effort of tourism workers and neighbors of Santa Clara, Remedios and Sagua la Grande, besides those of the northern keys of Villa Clara province, venue for the event.

He certified that a survey carried out during this version of FITCuba, showed that 60 percent attended previously to the venue and 40 percent participated for the first time.

He stressed that 23 percent took part in FITCuba in more than eight occasions and 51 percent found out about the event through the website of the Fair and promotion campaigns of Mintur.

Eighty-nine percent of those interviewed showed great satisfaction for the information given, 95 percent considered adequate the way the meeting developed.

The Fair concluded with a big party very near the beach of that place, entertained by the internationally recognized Cuban music band, Los Van Van.

Cuba has 366 hotels and over 66 thousand rooms, airlines from over 72 important cities worldwide, and the island atended about 4.7 million foreign visitors last year.
