Havana, Cuba.- The president of the Health and Sports Commission of the National Assembly of People”s Power, Estela Cristina Luna, highlighted the democratic nature of the new Constitution that is currently being submitted to a referendum in Cuba for ratification.

In her statements to Prensa Latina, the Cuban deputy emphasized that the new constitution is distinguished from those of other countries by the participation of the people in its preparation up to the smallest detail.

She recalled that every Cuban had the opportunity to contribute, give his opinion and build it with his own experience of what Cuba is now, in the process that took place from August 13 to November 15, 2018.

Luna also expressed confidence in the prevalence of the YES response in the final result of the referendum, which was reached after the approval of the text by the Parliament of the island.

She also exhorted to defend the new law of laws because, he assured, it will be the fundamental tool for the construction of a path towards an increasingly better future for children, families and Cuban society in general.

However, she warned about the strategies of imperialism, whose main representative in the world is the United States, to try to deceive the peoples in order to dominate them economically and politically, and thus achieve their interests.

In that sense, Luna referred to the campaigns against Cuba and the attempted coup in Venezuela. Similarly, he reiterated the total support of the Cubans to the Venezuelan government and people and its president, Nicolás Maduro, who are facing an organized coup, directed and financed by Washington.

She said that the governments of Cuba, Venezuela and the countries fighting for the interests of their peoples suffer the aggression of the international rightwing by putting human beings at the center of their management and not money.

The Cuban deputy exemplified the confrontation of the authorities of the island to the damages caused by the tornado of January 27 that hit several territories of Havana, that are now recovering, thanks to the union of the people and the government under the guidance of President Miguel Díaz-Canel.

‘The response has been immediate and energetic presided over by our President Miguel Díaz-Canel and all the leaders and the people,’ she finally stated.
