Havana, Cuba. – The National Traffic Directorate announced this Monday, in Havana measures to reduce accidents to a minimum in the country.
In a meeting with the press, Lt. Col. Yuniel de La Rosa, head of the Traffic Department explained that in order to protect pedestrians, time adjustments were made in several interceptions with traffic lights.
De La Rosa reported that the main provisions to cope with speeding are based on the reduction of limits on some roads in Havana and other Cuban cities, as well as intensifying surveillance and patrolling on highways and streets.
Specialists of the National Traffic Directorate explained the accidents are the fifth cause of death in the island, and among the factors affecting are pedestrians´ recklessness, driver distractions, excess speed and disrespect to the right track.
