HAVANA, Cuba. – During the sixth Plenary of the National Association of Small Farmers, carried out this Sunday in Artemisa province, the Vice-President of the Councils of State and Ministers, Jose Ramon Machado Ventura, called to increase cultivation areas.

He said that as a result of the damage caused by Hurricane Irma, we will have difficult months, but the Ministry of Agriculture has taken the necessary measures to minimize the effects.

Machado Ventura stressed it is necessary to be prepared in the face of adverse situations due to climate change and in turn take advantage of favorable situations such as rainfall and temperatures.

For his part, Ramon Aguilar, member of the National Committee of Small Farmers, said that this stage of work was characterized by the strengthening of joint work with the Young Communist League of Cuba and the Federation of Cuban Women.
