Moscow, Russia.- The President of the Councils of State and Ministers of Cuba, Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez, and Russian statesman, Vladimir Putin, have talked on Friday at the Kremlin about the strengthening of the bilateral strategic partnership.

The Kremlin reported that both heads of State discussed the prospects for further deepening of the Russian-Cuban strategic partnership in many fields and the exchange of opinions on international and regional issues.

In addition to the meeting at the headquarters of the Russian presidency, the Cuban President is holding meetings with the top leaders of the Duma (Russian lower chamber), Vyacheslav Volodin, and the Council of the Russian Federation (Russian Senate), Valentina Matvienko.

Diaz-Canel Bermudez, who is visiting Russia for the first time as a head of State, met also the leader off the Comunist Party, Guennadi Zyuganov.

Shortly upon his arrival on Thursday, the Cuban president stressed in Moscow that not only his country won in the UN, but the United States was defeated 10 times in one.

Diaz-Canel referred to the rejection the same day in the General Assambley of the United Nations to the draft amendments to the Cuban resolution against Washington´s siege, approved in its original text by the 189 member countries with the only opposition of Israel and the U.S.

Once again, the world recognized the Cuban cause and defended the island because it knows it is fair, Diaz-Canel Bermudez said during a meeting held on Thursday with the press at the island’s embassy in Moscow.

The Duma (Russian lower chamber) and the Council of the Russian Federation (Russian Senate) recently approved resolutions and calls to the UN, the international community and the world’s parliaments to reject the U.S. siege against Cuba.

The trip of the Cuban statesman to Russia comes after the signing in Havana of collaboration agreements, valued at more than $250 million USD, in the presence of Cuban government vice president, Ricardo Cabrisas, and Russian Deputy Prime Minister, Yuri Borisov.
