VILLA CLARA, Cuba.- The tribute to the members of Las Villas Front began in this Cuban province with the change of flowers in the niches where the Che and his companions´ remains rest in the sculptural complex of Santa Clara.

In the ceremony headed by Commander of the Revolution Ramiro Valdes Menendez, second chief of that front, and Major General of the Reserve Ramon Pardo Guerra, chief of the Civil Defense National General Staff, participated young people, combatants and other personalities.

During the ceremony, students from Camilo Cienfuegos Military School performed a guard of honor to the heroes fallen in combat or died after the triumph of the Revolution.

At the end of the ceremony, the presidency placed flowers at the base of the eternal flame honoring those who fought to make the Moncada Program true.

The Heroes Who Che Forged

The homage of the people of Villa Clara to the members of Las Villas Front when 60 years of its foundation have passed, was materialized this morning in the mausoleum perpetuating their memory.

In the ceremony, Julio Lima, First Secretary of the Party in Villa Clara, narrated the voyage of the rebels to the center of Cuba and the events that motivated the foundation of Las Villas Front by Che Guevara, on October 16, 1958.

Lima highlighted Guevara´s qualities in the mission of integrating in the Escambray mountains the forces of the Revolutionary Directory and the July 26th Movement in a single front of struggle.

Songs and poems dedicated to Commander Guevara and Fidel were heard in the Las Villas Front mausoleum at Santa Clara, scene of commemorations and delivery of awards.
