CARACAS, Venezuela.- President Nicolas Maduro highlighted that Venezuela appreciates the support of the UN Human Rights Council for the resolution presented by the Chair of the Non-Aligned Movement.

The document deepens international cooperation and rejection of unilateral coercive measures within the agency, approved with 28 votes in favor, 14 against and 5 abstentions.

The resolution reaffirms one of the purposes of the United Nations, as well as the primary responsibility of States to promote, protect and promote respect for all fundamental guarantees and freedoms.

The adoption of this resolution by the Human Rights Council is a triumph for strengthening international support, and in repudiation of U.S. unilateral coercive measures, Maduro pointed out.
