CARACAS, Venezuela.- The Government and people of Venezuela commemorate the 526 years of the Day of the Indigenous Resistance, in vindication of the memory of the native peoples who were victims of genocide by the Spanish colony.
Regarding the date, the President of the Republic, Nicolas Maduro, said on Twitter that Venezuelans continue with the same rebellion in the struggle to maintain the homeland´s sovereignty.
Similarly, the head of State recalled that in October 2003, Commander Hugo Chavez created the Guaicaipuro Mission, in order to provide attention to the indigenous people who in the past were excluded by groups in favor of capitalism.
A day like today, 15 years ago, the Guaicaipuro Mission was born in the hands of Commander Chavez, with the aim of guaranteeing the integral attention of our historically excluded Indigenous brothers, Maduro pointed out.
