The UN expert said political differences between governments should not be resolved by inducing economic disasters to the population.

UNITED NATIONS, New York.- Idriss Jazairy, Special Rapporteur of the United Nations, on the impact of unilateral sanctions on human rights, shows great concern about the sanctions against Cuba, Venezuela and Iran.

According to Jazairy, political differences between governments should never be resolved by inducing economic disasters to the population, referring to the consequences of the sanctions imposed by Washington to Havana, Caracas and Tehran.

In his opinion, resorting to these measures for political purposes violates human rights and international norms as they can precipitate humanitarian catastrophes of great proportions.

International relations codes of conduct have never accepted changes in government through economic measures leading to the denial of human rights, and may cause hunger in the population.
