WASHINGTON, the United States.- American Senator Patrick Leahy celebrated this Wednesday the agreement between the Major Leagues of the United States and the Cuban Federation of Baseball.
The American Major Leagues and the Cuban Federation of Baseball announced they achieved a historical agreement to normalize the hiring of Cuban players towards the Major, which will be able to make the 30 teams of the Great Carp from 2019.
Leahy recalled that one of the first advances in the nexus between the two territories was the baseball game held in Havana in 1999 between the island’s national team and the Baltimore Orioles.
According to the Democratic senator, he welcomes the work of the Major Leagues to reach that agreement and allow the Cuban players to play safely for the American teams.
