Damascus, Syria. – A new round of indirect peace talks between the Syrian Government and the opposition begins today at the United Nations headquarters in Geneva, coordinated by the mediator of the world agency Staffn de Mistura.
The official told the press this sixth round of the dialogue promises to be different, as all delegations would be present and have a previously agreed work agenda, which focuses on governance, elections and the Constitution, and fighting terrorism.
Our goal is to move forward in these matters, although we could delve into some in particular, depending on the discussions, the UN special emissary said.
De Mistura emphasized the importance of accompanying the process aimed at ending six years of conflict in Syria with full respect to the cease-fire in force since last December, thanks to the mediation of Russia and Turkey.
