Guantanamo, Cuba.- The people and the government of Russia will always support the just causes of Cubans, the first secretary of the Russian Embassy in Cuba, Vladimir Laroshevski, assured in this Cuban city on Tuesday.

‘This October 31 we will be awaiting the United Nations vote on the draft resolution against the U.S. blockade against Cuba, because the ties binding us to this island are very strong,’ said the diplomat, who is visiting the Cuban easternmost province, because of the celebration of activities for the Day of Russian Language.

During his tour of the June 14 Special School in Guantanamo, provincial capital, Laroshevski said that after appreciating the difficulties faced by the Ministry of Education of Cuba to acquire the equipment needed by children with visual and hearing difficulties, the damage caused by the U.S. blockade to Cuba can be seen in the daily life of Cubans.

The diplomat had an extensive exchange with the pioneers of that educational center, with whom he also shared the screening of several Russian children’s films and awarded the winners of the children’s drawing contest Russia and Cuba.

Laroshevski said he felt excited and pointed out that his stay in Guantanamo, but especially the visit to this special school, was a wonderful experience, which allowed him to feel the love Cubans have for their country and the close ties of friendship that have always existed between both nations.

He also shared the screening of several Russian children’s films and awarded the winners of the children’s drawing contest Russia and Cuba.

As part of the activities for the Day of the Russian Language, the photographic exhibition Cultural Diversity of Russia will be inaugurated at the University of Guantanamo and a meeting will be held with graduates of the universities of the former Soviet Union.
