Rajoy closes any dialogue with Catalonia.
MADRID, Spain. – The call of the Catalan independence President Carles Puigdemont to mediation, was rejected this Wednesday by the Spanish government chaired by rightist Mariano Rajoy, as long as Catalonia continues with the purpose of declaring independence.
Rajoy Administration said in a statement that if Mr. Puigdemont wants to speak or negotiate, or wants to send mediators, he must return to the path of the law he should never have left.
According to official sources, the Catalan government has began contacts with the Archbishop and the Abbot of Montserrat in Barcelona, in order to probe the possibility of their mediation role in the Catalan question; also the leader of Podemos (We Can), Pablo Iglesias, has voted to open a way of dialogue.
However, Rajoy Administration has warned Puigdemont they will not accept any blackmail and requested he withdraw the threat of rupture, in reference to the declaration of independence.
