chinosBeijing, China.- Comrade Fidel Castro is the architect of Cuban socialism who left an outstanding imprint in the cause of the island”s national liberation, Chinese President Xi Jinping said here on Tuesday with consternation.

When visiting the Cuban Embassy in this capital to express his deep sorrow in the book of condolences, the Chinese president noted the harmonious relations between the two countries, and described Fidel, who passed away last Friday at the age of 90, as the great friend of the Chinese people.

Xi underlined that his visit to the Cuban Embassy shows how much this millenarian territory supports the Cuban people.

He pointed out that the ties between the two governments and peoples will not change, on the contrary, they will be enhanced to seek mutually-beneficial cooperation.

The Chinese president acknowledged that the figure of the Commander-in-Chief transcends his country’s borders and his ideas have served many generations.

I am certain that Fidel’s legacy will continue playing its role internationally, Xi stressed.

Based on this people’s expressions, Xi noted that this time of sadness must be turned into strength and must deepen relations for mutual development to influence the benefits of peace and prosperity worldwide.

He repeated that the Chinese people will miss Fidel Castro, and expressed his confidence that under the leadership of Raul Castro, the Communist Party of Cuba and its people, the Caribbean island will made new achievements in the national cause.

Many wreaths have been received at the Cuban Embassy in Beijing, including those from Xi, the Communist Party of China and former Chinese President Hu Jintao.
