Havana, Cuba.- The Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP) expressed today in a communiqué its solidarity with the President of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro, as a result of the attack against him last August 4.

According to ICAP, Cubans understand well the value of solidarity and, therefore, express their full support for the Venezuelans who are currently facing the aforementioned attack, as well as the continuous threats and aggressions of the power groups of the international right.

The document is in line with a statement of the Cuban government in which it is said the attack constitutes a desperate attempt to obtain through the assassination route what they have not been able to obtain in multiple elections, with coups and oil tankers, unconventional war, media campaigns, sabotage and violent acts.

The achievements of 18 years since the triumph of Hugo Chavez in Venezuela are seriously threatened by the advance of the regional ultra-right sponsored by the United States. That attack is part of the plans to prevent the rebirth of the Bolivarian Republic, the text adds.

The ICAP also called on all the progressive forces of the world to strengthen solidarity in order to, in this way, help to stop the aggressions and to promote the peaceful development of the Venezuelan people.
