BARCELONA, Catalonia.- The Parliament of Catalonia celebrates this Thursday a plenary to elect Jordi Turull as new President of that Spanish region, whom justice could disable tomorrow for his participation in the secessionist process.

In an unexpected turn of events, the president of the Catalan Chamber, Roger Torrent, convened for this Thursday the inauguration session of Turull, former counselor of the ousted government of Carles Puigdemont.

The separatist parties -with parliamentary majority- agreed at the last minute of Wednesday to hasten the vote to invest the candidate of the conservative coalition Together for Catalonia, led by ousted Puigdemont.

With its decision, the independence pretends to anticipate the possibility that its principal candidate to lead the Generalitat is sent to prison by the judge of the Spanish Supreme Court, Pablo Llarena.
