The closure of the immigration office at the Canadian Embassy in Havana left many in difficulties to get a visa.
MONTREAL, Canada.- Canadian citizens protested in Montreal for the closing of the immigration office of their country’s Embassy in Havana.
The closure ordered by the authorities left many in difficulties to obtain a visa to come to Canada, the Global News reports referring to demonstrations of citizens in Montreal that oppose the measure, a situation that left many frustrated and desperate.
Canadian authorities said they will not accept applications for visitor visas and study/work permits, or conduct permanent residency interviews. The services including fingerprints and medical examinations must now be performed outside of Cuba.
The source added that the closing of the office not only affects the new applicants of visa, because it can even hinder the festivals that regularly invite Cuban artists.
