Brasilia, Barzil.- Brazil faces today the threat of joining the list of ”countries without law and without democracy”, warned the national president of the Workers” Party (PT), Gleisi Hoffmann.

The also PT senator sent the warning when commenting the position of Michel Temer’s government on the decision adopted by the UN Human Rights Committee, that on the eve demanded respect for the political rights of the former dignitary Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva and his participation as a candidate in the next elections.

The United Nations with headquarters in Geneva demanded to guarantee Lula ‘appropriate access to the press and members of his political party’ and the possibility of attending as a presidential candidate ‘until all the remedies pending review against his conviction are completed in a fair procedure.’

Everything that Lula always demanded, since the beginning of the hateful campaign against him, was that: a fair trial, stressed Hoffamnn before pointing out that ‘unfortunately, for Brazil’s image in the world, it was necessary to resort to the highest court of Human Rights so that this right would be finally recognized.’

The PT leader also stressed that there is no way to hide from the world the violence that is being practiced in the country by sectors of the Judiciary in complicity with the Globo network, the big media and Michel Temer’s putschist government.

‘Either they comply with the UN’s decision or they finally launch Brazil in the list of countries without law and without democracy,’ she stressed.

Hoffmann also noted that the position of Justice Minister Torquato Jardim, who considered that the UN improperly meddles in the internal affairs of Brazil, causes indignation and expressed that the decision of the Human Rights Committee has no legal relevance.
