Havana, Cuba.-With the 19th Edition of the Habano Festival this month in the Cuban capital, Cuba”s quality products industry marks a very lucrative road, with many fans from all over the world.
That meeting already traps thousands of people from more than 50 countries, but they are not ordinary travelers, but highly solvent, who bet on Premium cigars, or handmade, where Cubans reign.
Hence the meeting, scheduled from February 27 to March 3, is a great event.
Scheduled for the Palace of Conventions in Havana, and with many side programs, Habano Festival is now available to American stakeholders due to 12 categories of travel that allows them to arrive more or less officially.
But the obstacles of permanent restrictions of the United States against Cuba due to the US Blokade ( that has more than 50 years), were never an obstacle for the Americans to enjoy the cigars of the island and to walk through Cuban halls.
Now, therefore, this party sums up, as on other occasions, the elite products of the Cuban industry, which also have gourmet coffee and rums of very high quality, such as the emblematic Havana Club rum.
For the occasion (this festival), the tribute will run on the brands H. Upmann, Montecristo and Quai D’Orsay, protagonists of the event, with presentations and tastings, since every year some of them dominate the event (Cuba has 37 different brands).
H. Upmann, for example, will show his first Gran Reserva Cosecha 2011, while Montecristo (1935, the most sold) incorporates to its portfolio a new complete line of products.
That is why Montecristo will arrive at the Festival with the most Premium and exclusive proposal of the brand.
During that week, Cuban cigars is associated with outstanding musicians of the island, craftsmen who make beautiful boxes to treasure the cigars (humidores), and an ineffable contact of the participants with the most productive and humble people of the nation (harvesters and rollers).
Hence the closure is transformed into an event that will be attended by cinematographic celebrities, politicians, industrialists and opinion leaders, who aspire to take the coveted Havana Prize of the Year, kind of an Oscar award but in the case of cigars.
A true celebration, which had its origin in 1994, precisely with an exclusive dinner dedicated to the 150 years of the H.Upmann brand, which in 1999 was transformed from a meeting into a Festival, at times when the Habano Awards were delivered since 1995.
