HAVANA, Cuba.- This is the worker Congress we need right now to face the current situation, Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez said in Commission number 2 of the 21th Congress of the Workers’ Central Union of Cuba (CTC).
Diaz-Canel emphasized that in the midst of the complex situation in the country, Cuban workers have a leading role in the priorities of defending the nation and the economy.
The President insisted that the Congress should bring to the understanding by the workers of the situation and leading to a discussion of the economic problems based on the most systematic, comprehensive and precise basis.
Diaz-Canel described as stimulating the important meeting, where trade unionists show there are potentialities to boost the country’s development, assess the contribution to the efficiency demanded by the economy and the role of the Union in the materialization of its priorities.
Working with integrated Solutions
In the face of increased financial persecution, the blockade and the application of Title III of the Helms-Burton Act, the President of the Councils of State and Ministers, Miguel Diaz-Canel said the time has come to stop complaining, it is imperative to work with integrated solutions.
In Commission number 2 of the 21th Congress of CTC, Diaz-Canel commended that a committed and confident debate shows that there is no fear to confront the intensification of the siege, because we have the experience, a historical legacy to defend and a heroic people with a culture of resistance and victory.
He explained to trade unionists concepts linked to government management and economic battle, and said, we will move forward without leaving room for defeat.
We will win and we will demonstrate this May 1 in all mobilizations in the country, Diaz-Canel said.
Working from the Territory
In Commission number three of the 21th Congress of CTC, the First Vice-President of the Councils of State and of Ministers, Salvador Valdes Mesa called to confront illegalities with rigor.
Valdes Mesa pointed out the importance of municipal authorities in creating strategies to solve the problems of self-employment in each territory and in the fight against indiscipline.
For her part, delegate Yunielka Perez, from Sancof non-agricultural cooperative in Matanzas, exemplified how its entity can help to the development of the community.
