Diaz-Canel concludes government visit to Guantanamo

GUANTANAMO, Cuba.- The President of the Republic of Cuba, Miguel Diaz-Canel toured today the Antonia Luisa Cabal Music School in Guantanamo, as part of the government visit he leads to that province and which culminates this Friday.

Diaz-Canel praised the formation of the center, exchanged with students and teachers, recognized the development of the investments in the first block of the institution and called to speed up the second.

The Professional School of Music of Guantánamo has been part of the process of decentralization of Cuban artistic teaching since 2015.

On Thursday, on the first day of the government visit to Guantanamo, the Cuban President together with ministers and authorities of the province, learned about the situation of the housing fund, the acceptance of health services and the local self-supply program.

They Recognize Compliance with Indications at Guantanamo

The Vice-President of the Republic, Salvador Valdes Mesa, who is part of the government visit to Guantanamo acknowledged this Friday the fulfilment of most of the indications given during the first visit of the Council of Ministers to that territory.

Valdes Mesa highlighted the fact that out of 23 indications, 12 are complied with and the others are in process, and he supported the confrontation of the territory to the energy situation.

At the meeting led by the President of the Republic, Miguel Diaz-Canel with local authorities of the Provincial Assembly of People´s Power, Minister of Economy Alejandro Gil also highlighted progress in Guantanamo.

Gil said that although the province complies with the plan of exports to 120%, for productions such as charcoal, honey, and coffee, the territory has potential to identify more items.
