LUANDA, Angola.- The founding father and first President of Angola, Antonio Agostinho Neto, will receive, posthumously, the title of Honorary Doctor by the university bearing his name.

Maria Baptista, scientific Vice-rector and of Postgraduate of the Institution, said the initiative is part of the efforts to recognize the actions of the politician, doctor and humanist in favor of the expansion of higher education in the African country after the proclamation of independence.

Baptista added that the granting of the title of Honorary Doctor is due to the courage, nationalist and patriotic sense of Agostinho Neto in a difficult time for Angola.

The ceremony of posthumous delivery of that grade to Neto will be at the Belas Conference Center in Luanda, and attended by rulers, politicians, academics, diplomats, university graduates and other national and foreign figures are invited.
