HAVANA, Cuba.-With the presence of the Secretary General of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Nguyen Phu Trong and Cuban first Vice-President Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez, it was closed in Havana the meeting of solidarity between Young Cubans and Vietnameses.

At the event, Nguyen Phu Trong remarked that over the course of more than half a century, both peoples have been side by side in the struggle for national independence and freedom.

He said that between Cuba and Vietnam there is a true relationship of friendship, solidarity and brotherhood, “an invaluable treasure we must care for, preserve and inherit future generations.”

“We have the conviction that with creativity, enthusiasm, energy and will, young Vietnameses and Cubans inherit the glorious tradition always contributing to the development and upward relationship between both countries,” the Vietnamese leader said.

Faithful and Supportive

The Cuban First Vice-President, Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez, pointed out that the meeting of solidarity between Cuban and Vietnamese youth in Havana was full of emotions, revolutionary feelings and eternal commitment to the present and future.

At the closing, Diaz Canel said the exchange was a concrete expression that the close friendship between the two countries did not come from a cyclical event, has not been anchored in the past nor responds to ephemeral conveniences.

The Order of Friendship, granted by the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, was presented to five Cuban internationalist combatants who were with the Vietnamese people in the harsh stage of the war.

Cuba and Vietnam reinforced the increase in their solidarity ties with the signing of an exchange agreement between the Communist youth of both countries.
