HAVANA, Cuba.- With the presence of Army General Raul Castro, and Miguel Diaz-Canel, President of the Councils of State and of Ministers, it began in the Jose Marti Revolution Square the central act and parade for the May first.
The motto Unity, Commitment and Victory called this time to millions of Cubans in squares and streets across the country, with the conviction that this people will continue advancing towards the goal of building a socialist, prosperous and sustainable society.
The celebration of International Workers’ Day is also an expression of solidarity with our Latin American and Caribbean brothers, and especially with the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.
In the gallery of the Revolution Square of Havana there are representatives of 34 countries, from 66 trade union and solidarity organizations.
Support of a Whole People to Their Revolution
The International Workers’ Day is in Cuba a strong demonstration of the solid foundations of the Revolution, and the support of all the people to the work they build together.
This was assured by the Secretary General of the Workers’ Central Union of Cuba (CTC), Ulises Guilarte de Nacimiento, in a brief address before starting the proletarian parade in Havana.
“Unity, commitment and victory synthesize our conviction to continue building a socialist and sovereign nation,” he assured.
He also remarked the unconditional support to the Bolivarian Revolution and its President Nicolas Maduro, the Government of Nicaragua and the Brazilian former dignitary, Luis Inacio Lula Da Silva. “Nothing and no one will ever stop Cuba,” concluded Guilarte de Nacimiento, to give way to a compact and multicolor parade, which involved about 900,000 people from Havana.
Education at the Forefront
Behind an immense fabric with the inscription 80 Years of Principles, Unity and History it began the massive march in the Jose Marti Revolution Square this May 1st.
The first block corresponded to the National Union of Workers of Education, Science and Sports, and in its vanguard, students from the Salvador Allende, Fulgencio Oroz and Eduardo Garcia Delgado teacher-training schools.
The delegation that took to the Summit of the Americas in Lima the strong voice of Cuba on behalf of its civil society also marched in front of the Tribune.
Educators of day-care centers, outstanding athletes, and health professionals who serve their people and many others in the world also paraded. Next to them, students of the Latin American School of Medicine founded by Fidel.
Revolution is To Build
In slogans, posters and photographs that multiplied his image, Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro was present in the grandiose parade of this May 1st in the Jose Marti Revolution Square, presided over by Raul and Diaz-Canel.
A joyful and combative human torrent, dominated by red, blue and white colors, once again inundated the historic place. And as one man, builders, tourism workers, communicators, artists and writers, dignity diplomats and members of the Youth Labor Army passed.
They were also from trade, gastronomy and services, industry and non-state forms of management, affiliated with trade unions. A great band of music conducted by Maestro Miguel Milanes and a human slate accompanied in Havana the popular celebration of Workers’ Day.
Revolution´s Continuity is Certain
By historic Jose Marti Revolution Square of the Cuban capital, transport workers, bank employees, and the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution also paraded.
On a morning of revolutionary reaffirmation, representatives of the Energy and Mines Union, led by a large group of electricians, passed in front of the tribune.
They were followed by members of the National Association of Small Farmers, who waved Cuban flags and banners with images of the leaders of the working class.
Women, children, Venezuelan students, the Livestock Business Group, Expocuba, the revolutionary press, and the whole people, marched with a firm step through the square with the name of the Cuban national hero.
And as a culmination, a compact block of young people who proved once again that the continuity of the Revolution is safe.
