SANTIAGO DE CUBA, Cuba. – A wreath of flowers on behalf of the people of Cuba was placed this August 23 before the stone guarding Vilma Espin Guillois´s ashes in the Mausoleum of Heroes and Martyrs of the Second Eastern Front.

The ceremony was preceded by a pilgrimage of members of the Federation of Cuban Women (FMC) and people of Mayari Arriba, who on behalf of the Cubans pay tribute to the eternal President of FMC every anniversary of the organization created by Fidel and Vilma 57 years ago.

Hundreds of inhabitants of Mayari Arriba, headed by the authorities of the Party and Government of that hilly municipality gathered in that sacred place of the fatherland to pay homage to the heroine.

The commemoration ceremony revealed the validity and value of Vilma Espin´s legacy for the development of Cuban women today.
