HAVANA, Cuba. – From November to January, the first three months of the dry period in Cuba, the behavior of rains was favorable with 185 per cent of the historical average.

Argelio Fernandez, main specialist of the National Institute of Hydraulic Resources, said this situation has decreased so far this February, and added that to date it has only precipitated 7.1 millimeters, of an estimated 43 for the month.

Fernandez reported that until February 18, Cuban reservoirs presented 7 583 million cubic meters, 122 million less than at the end of January.

In dry or humid periods it is imperative the rational use of water in all the systems, both in hydraulic resources and in dwellings.
