MATANZAS, Cuba. – A group of specialists from the Chinese Society of the Red Cross evaluated the damage caused by Hurricane Irma in Cardenas and Marti, two municipalities in the north coast of Matanzas.

The deputy director of the Chinese Society of the Red Cross, Li Qinghua, told Radio Reloj that during the visit they were able to see the serious damage suffered on the island, mainly concentrated in the total destruction of houses and the disappearance of many roofs.

Li was impressed by the damage they could also see in the north of Villa Clara, although he praised the efficiency of the Cuban prevention machinery, especially the Civil Defense and the Red Cross.

A week ago, a first plane arrived in Havana with eighty-six tons of humanitarian aid sent by China that included tents, mattresses, blankets and water pumps, among other items.
