HAVANA, Cuba. – The blockade of the United States affects the attendance of Cuban specialists in meetings or scientific exchanges in American institutions, Maida Goite Pierre, Vice- Rector of the University of Havana, said.

Goite Pierre added that the professors of the academic institution cannot charge the copyright of their publications in the United States, and indicated that the American student groups that come to Cuba have been affected by the laws of their country.

Silvia Gonzalez, director of International Relations at the University of Havana, said that the Trump administration, by withdrawing most of the diplomatic staff in Havana, creates fear and uncertainty in people because of the certainty of travel.

Gonzalez explained the United States Government’s willingness to reduce consular services also affects the processing of visas for professors and researchers.
