HAVANA, Cuba.- The President of the Councils of State and Ministers of Cuba, Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez, congratulated the University of Havana, recognized by the Union of Universities of Latin America and the Caribbean (UDUAL).

Diaz-Canel celebrated the granting to the University of the certificate that makes it the first university accredited by the International Evaluation and Accreditation Council of UDUAL.

Henning Jensen, President of the UDUAL, gave the recognition to Rector of the University Miriam Nicado, Member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of Cuba and the Council of State, in a ceremony held at the Convention Center of the University of Havana.

The chairman of the Evaluation Board, Orlando Delgado Selley, said during the award ceremony that accreditation is one of the factors of quality assurance in universities.
