Toluca, Mexico.- The 23rd National Meeting of Solidarity with Cuba is taking place in Toluca on Saturday with the participation of delegates from several Mexican states and the aim of continuing support for the island, under US blockade.

The forum is organized by the Mexican Movement of Solidarity with Cuba (MMSC) and has as its slogan ‘For solidarity among our peoples and the validity of the thinking of Fidel, Marti and Heredia’.

Fernando Gonzalez Llort, president of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP) and Hero of the Republic of Cuba, will attend the meeting as a special guest. He will be in charge of a master lecture on ‘The process of updating the Cuban economic, political and social model’.

Another speaker on this opening day will be the Cuban ambassador here, Pedro Nuñez Mosquera, whose presentation is entitled ‘From Marti to Fidel, One Revolution’.

Jose Maria Heredia and Heredia: Emblem of the Mexico-Cuba links’, will be presented by Dr. Onoria Cespedes, research professor at the Faculty of Humanities of the Autonomous University of the State of Mexico.

Delegates to the event will work in working groups on topics such as: Organization of the Movement of Solidarity with Cuba at the local, national and Plan of Action; Cuba and the achievements of the Revolution in Human Development; and Youth: Solidarity with Cuba and Our America.

The meeting concludes tomorrow with decisions on how to continue and increase solidarity actions with the Caribbean island, united by historical and cultural ties with Mexico.
