Indigenous leaders denounce violations committed against native peoples.

BRAZILIA, Brazil. – Some 70 Brazilian indigenous leaders will visit in Brazilia the National Indian Foundation, the Ministry of Justice and the Supreme Federal Court to enforce demands and in particular the acceleration of the processes of demarcation of native lands.

The chieftains’ appeal agenda for 23 communities in the state of Bahia also includes topics in the areas of education, health, access to lighting services and land regularization.

According to Chief Arua Pataxo of the Indigenous Federation of the Pataxo and Tupinamba Nations of the Far South of Bahia, there are cases of students traveling more than 700 kilometers to the capital to attend classes.

In a statement, the Articulation of Indigenous Peoples Group indicates that the objective of the tour is to denounce the serious violations committed against the native peoples by the Government of Jair Bolsonaro.
