Moscow, Russia.- With a delegation of 290 members, Cubans will be busy during the 29th World Festival of Youth and Students in the southern Russian resort of Sochi.
The festival brings together about 20,000 young people from about 150 countries, who will debate on peace, solidarity, the anti-imperialist struggle and cooperation among youths around the world at Sochi’s Olympic Village, from October 14 to 22.
Joan Cabo Mijares, a member of the Cuban Young Communist League (UJC), told Prensa Latina that the island’s delegation to the festival is one of the largest ones at the event and will have important responsibilities during the festival’s program.
Among the activities we develop is fully supporting the anti-imperialist tribunal, where Cuba will play a key role, because it will denounce the U.S. blockade on our country, he said.
As part of the festival’s program, Cuba will play an important role at the meeting of solidarity with the Republic of Vietnam and in other debates and discussions by friends of the Cuban Revolution, Cabo Mijares noted.
Among them, authorities, personalities and representatives of the Cuban art will give master lectures on the cultural warfare and the war of symbols, he added.
A very important motivation for us as a Cuban delegation is the fact that among the personages to which the festival is dedicated is Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro, so we will be there with activities to remember his memory, he pointed out.
