Havana, Cuba.- Cuba pronounced itself today to place equality at the center of development in Latin America and the Caribbean and to work together to face the problems.
We can assure the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) and the member countries that, from the pro tempore presidency of this body, we will support this vision of placing equality at the center of development, stated Rodrigo Malmierca, Cuban minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment.
After the presentation of the Commission’s report, ‘The inefficiency of inequality,’ he highlighted the relevance of it, especially because Latin America and the Caribbean is ‘the region with more inequality.’
ECLAC sees in the integration and cooperation mechanisms some of the solutions to the problems we are facing, said Malmierca in the context of the 37th regular session of the Commission, which takes place until tomorrow in this capital.
The official insisted on the importance of advancing in knowledge and technology issues in order to really have greater productivity, while stressing the clear pronouncement of the report on the need to build a culture of equality.
Recently, Washington claimed Israel’s right to self-defense to justify violence against protests in Gaza.
