BAYAMO, Cuba.-Ten months after the first government visit to Granma, President Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez and the Council of Ministers return to this province to travel centers of economic and social interest, connect national government management with the territory, exchange, evaluate problems and solutions.

This Wednesday the visit began in Jiguani municipality, at Manuel Fajardo Genetics and Breeding Company, considered one of the most outstanding of its kind in Cuba.

The company, with the best herds in the country of the Charolais, Zebu and Criollo breeds, has the purpose of producing and marketing animals of high genetic value, milk, meat and its derivatives to satisfy the demands of the national balance and tourism.

Of its more than nineteen thousand hectares, some 398 are prepared for sowing of pastures and forages, including planting of protein plants such as Moringa, Mulberry and Tithonia.

The Cuban President asked about efficiency, productive processes, training of workers, among other key indicators, and toured the integral workshop of machineries, the meat processing plant and the embryo transfer laboratory.

“One of the things that deteriorated most during the Special Period was livestock, especially cattle farming, because we abandoned a group of practices that the Commander-in-Chief had done about cattle design in Cuba,” Diaz-Canel remarked.

In that sense, he pointed out that we must do a very intense work, especially in the genetic issue, and in rescuing the whole issue of insemination. So it is very important that genetic companies contribute all the experiences they have.

Next, the Cuban President visited Manuel Hernandez Osorio Combined of Marble, the largest of its kind in Cuba, located near Santa Rita town.

Belonging to Marmoles Oriente Business Unit of Base, the factory destines its productions mainly to tourism. Its managers and workers strive to work efficiently to position themselves more strongly in the domestic market.

The next stop for the tour made by President Diaz-Canel was to evaluate Cautillo Productive Complex development program, with the focus on food production as a priority of the government.

We have to make a census of all the land in usufruct to see what impact they have, because with all the land that we have given we should have more food, the President said.

Diaz-Canel also visited the Building Materials Production Local Center, another of the government’s key objectives in Granma province.

Blocks, mosaics, beams, among other products, are essentials in the effort to build housing in the territories with local productions, a priority also in the management of the national government.

This is a possible goal, but it is not just about material resources. Diaz-Canel has insisted on order, planning and control. The local production of materials, the use of their own strategies in each territory and the proper usage of the techniques, are essential pillars in the country’s efforts to respond with solutions to the housing problem.

And as usual in these tours throughout the country, President Diaz-Canel received numerous sympathy from the people. We are with you, Diaz-Canel, “And I, with you,” replied the President, who always prioritizes in his agenda to dialogue with people, explain the programs that are developed in the country and above all, transmit confidence and optimism
