MAYABEQUE, Cuba. – The youngest province in Cuba promotes the creation of scientific and research capacities on the knowledge of the effects of climate change for the coming years, Yanetsi Garcia Bozato said.

The representative of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment (CITMA) in Mayabeque explained this year he impulse the studies of danger, vulnerability and risk of disasters, sectorial climatic strategies, monitoring, communication and social awareness, among other actions, mainly from local development postgraduates.

Garcia Bozat pointed out that Mayabeque grows in the climate change confrontation programs and the main beneficiaries are peasants because they can allocate local initiatives to crops with their own resources.

The researcher pointed out that mangroves have great potential to adapt to environmental variations induced by climate change that is why on the south coast they replant them to mitigate the damage of erosion, salinity and penetration of the sea.
