LAS TUNAS, Cuba. – The Agroforestry Company in this Eastern province manages four protected areas, which allow covering a large part of the natural forests bordering the coasts on both sides of the territory.
Bahia Malagueta in Puerto Padre and Las Nuevas in Jesus Menendez are in the north, while San Miguel del Junco in Amancio and El Naranjo in Majibacoa are in the south.
Other actions are devoted to create the infrastructure to promote in these sites the conservation of flora and fauna resources, and the coastal ecosystems that are the most fragile, besides to foresee their linkage to the tourist development.
Protected areas will contribute to the care of mangroves on the first coastline and reforesting to stop the penetration of winds that cause salinity in soils.
