HAVANA, Cuba. – The book Raul Castro and Our America, eighty six speeches, interventions and statements by Abel Gonzalez, will be presented at 11 a.m. in the Nicolas Guillen Hall at the International Book Fair of Havana.

This Tuesday, in the presence of Minister of Culture Abel Prieto, young Mexican Cesar Daniel Chimal received the Thinking against the Tide Essay Award, for his work Overcoming Capitalism of Barbarism as a Condition for Life.

Jose Manuel Mateo received in the same context the A Species in Danger Special Prize for his work Cuba: The Challenges of a Country in Revolution to Face the Environmental Crisis.

Mella, a life in whirlwind, by Rolando Rodriguez, was launched at the International Book Fair of Havana, a text that clarifies little-known aspects on the life of the young communist.

The Country History at the Fair

This Tuesday was marked by the launching of Carlos Manuel de Cespedes, The Lost Diary, and The Path of Disobedience, the latter a novel biography on the Father of the Nation by Evelio Traba.

Eusebio Leal said the texts bring the reader to a human Cespedes, with his weaknesses and sorrows as a man, and with his political grandeur. Leal asserted: “The Father of the Nation is the cornerstone of the arch in which the fundamental principles of the nation are supported”.

Curiosities on famous personages related to Havana like Clavelito, Felix B. Caignet and Caruso are gathered in Hidden Memory of Havana, by Ciro Bianchi, launched this Tuesday.

The Internet was a pièce de résistance in La Cabaña, with the panel Origin and Development of the Digital Book in Cuba, and the multimedia titled Universal History, which demonstrated today’s horizons in that field.
